From the Top of the Rock Pile
Lee Adams — President
Here I set, thinking on what I want to say on my last “From the Top of the Rock Pile.” I have so many folks to thank for making the last two years so enjoyable. We have had our best ever shows including our 50th Anniversary show and more vendors are trying to get into our show, the largest club membership, and so much more. We have lost some of our dear members but they are fondly remembered.
We had our biographies published for all to read, we had enjoyable field trips and many fine meeting presentations.
The food at meetings, the summer picnic, Christmas Party and vendor dinners has been great and plentiful.
In all, Judy and I thank each and every one of you for a very challenging and wonderful two years trying to herd a bunch of fellow rock hounds to a rock pile. Thank you from the bottom of our collecting bucket.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
— Lee & Judy

December’s Birthstone & Flowers
The December birthstone is the turquoise; the flower are the narcissus and the holly.
Turquoise is found most often in very dry areas where volcanic activity has occurred. Unlike many other gems, turquoise is opaque rather than translucent. Its blue-green color can vary from sky blue or greenish blue to pale green or greenish gray. Bluer stones are considered more valuable and contain more copper.
The holly symbolizes your wish for domestic happiness. Although some animals and birds enjoy holly berries, they are semi-toxic to humans.
The narcissus conveys that you want your beloved to stay just the way they are. While there are many types of narcissus, the paperwhite is the winter-growing variety and the birth flower for December.
